Understanding Rise, Peak, And Set Times
Interpret satellite rise, maximum elevation, and set times in MySatVis visibility results.
Rise Time
Rise is when a satellite first crosses the selected elevation threshold while entering your visible sky.
Peak Elevation
Maximum elevation is the highest altitude reached during a pass. Higher peaks are usually easier to observe.
Set Time
Set marks when the satellite drops below the selected threshold and is no longer visible in that pass segment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can rise and set occur outside my time window?
Yes. The app indicates when events occur before or after the selected time window.
Why is max elevation important?
Higher max elevation generally means less atmospheric interference and better viewing conditions.
